marcel vogels lumberjacks in hell welcome the disco master al kent into the fold with the two track yes i cant 12 inch. al kent is a true original. not interested in anything but disco. dying his hair in a truly unique fashion, to match the sparkle of disco balls and having recently hired an octopus to help him chop up those records. both *yes i do* and *cant stop* highlight the glaswegians importance to keeping the true spirit of disco alive, deftly and tightly edited in a manner that would impress messrs hardy and gibbons were they alive today.

as a label manager a lot of music reaches you ears. some you get especially attached to. this release is one of those. the two italian producers massprod and herva (bosconi, delsin) has together produced some music that feels very unique and different.

for this release kurbits once again turns to the romanian artist faster aka laurentiu suciu. since fasters last release on kurbits in 2011, the romanian has established his position on the scene with gigs all over the world and quality releases on labels such as vinyl club and rora. on this release we see faster continiung and developing the deep and hypnotic sounds of previous releases. orchestra modificata is something as rare as a subtle big track. the pads sure speak the language of big room business, but in combination with the exquisite percussion work, the track takes us to exciting unexplored dimensions. on the flip we have daca vrei. its radiant mood and the laid back breakbeats, make it the perfect ingridient for those early morning sessions when a little pinch of sunshine is all you need to take the crowd to party heaven. we sincerely hope you ll have as much pleasure with these tracks as we a have. we ll be back soon with new and exciting rhythms.

spike wolters quartet of self released lps which surfaced between 1981 - 84 have become the stuff of legend. an avant garde collection of solo tracks, combining guitar, drum machines, synths & vocals into spacious, fx laden compositions which stand firmly outside of the era in which they were created. its a lo-fi, but broad selection, taking in experimental pieces, alongside taut post-punk workouts, and more laidback steely dan moments. the sixteen cuts on orange cloud nine have been lovingly compiled from those four early 80s lps by golf channels phil south. its a limited single vinyl package, with custom artwork from perks & minis misha & individual download code.

those who know the respected irish producer john daly for his bubbly, melodically nuanced house and techno tracks may get thrown off balance by his latest work under the smoke clears handle. while his 2011 release for further, sea level, hinted at his fondness for manuel göttsching/klaus schulze-like kosmische ambience, on listen daly veers off into more introverted and arcane abstraction terrain. the title track kicks off the album on a decidedly downtempo, contemplative note while maintaining dalys knack for understatedly beautiful melodies. it sounds like the best song morr music never released.

chicago native jordan fields drops an awesome 4 track ep for those who love chicago sound. a tape called 1990 - this lost track was created 2 decades ago with heavy influence from mr fingers. the just an illusion re-work feels like the soundtrack to a break dance movie.

in the 70s radio stations were a powerful force across the whole of the us, and anyone with a transistor radio had access all kinds of music. live music was another matter altogether, and unless you found yourself in a major city your nights out were limited to what the local talent had to offer. this was especially so with soul and funk acts, as mainstream rock and pop was where the money was. so for small time oklahoma soul bands such as husband and wife charles and barbara burtons groups messengers inc - and later burton inc - times were tough. however, like many purveyors of soul, tough times were no match for those with determination, persistence and a story to tell. many artists scraped enough money together to make a 45 or two on their own label, but the burtons took this to another level – they got themselves organised and released their own full length lps.

a word from label boss chris farrell: this is the new one on idle hands, from us producer strategy. i first came across paul dickows work when he released a 12 inch called *world house* on his own community library label back in 2005. it blew me away. in the ensuing years my friend duncan george who promoted bristol’s best electronic music night - under_score tried on numerous ocasions to book him for a bristol date but it never quite hapened due to the usual things that go wrong in club land. in those years duncan kept in touch with paul and last year suggested to him that it might be worth sending some tracks to me, which he did at the start of 2013… add a peverelist remix and you have the tracks here before you, dub reggae informed house and psychedelic 2 step vibes.

gaetano vinci a.k.a. hooved has been one of the most dependable producers on amam over the years, and more recently, his sound has mutated in some unexpected directions. thats why its high time to give our knob- twiddling satyr his own special catalog code from now on, and here we present amamhvd001, or for those of you who prefer titles instead of strings of letters and numbers, the timeless ep, his first 12inch of the year. the near-15-minute tmlss 1 begins with a 2-step beat, and as it unfolds, the beats only get more broken, causing a sense of auditory psychosis while somehow remaining calm, cool and collected.

two stone-cold killers here from none other than delroy edwards & funkineven. pooling their talents as dirty analogue overlords, here the two are on one straight mission from start to finish: raw and fierce acid cuts aimed directly at those on the beer and sweat-soaked floor. these wont be around for long to be sure, so dont sleep!

since day one, radiq has been showing an affinity for the afro-centric funkiness and carefully-honed sound design of modern days minimal music. as in many of his previous tracks, all six songs of >vida noir< has this certain kind of unyielding quality - long, hypnotic grooves with muted kick drum set the stage for more emancipated experiments in texture and sound design. on >a long hot summer break<, for example, the effect is utterly obvious as kicking its ass into gear with syncopated drums and strain of warm chords before animated vocal sample slips in like fingerprint. while deeply seductive interplay of those chugging percussion gives way to delighted horn of >a-dieu<, warm chord and acoustic guitar of >calling< is perfect example for radiq’s masterful sound and texture. >machine codes modified< has rather restrained structure for him, but tightly woven drums speaks eloquently about its carefully arranged funkiness and dance floor functionality. despite their repetitiveness, its surprising how well these productions forming cohesive solidarity as an album. presumably, it owes a lot to wide tonal vocabulary which is radiqs hallmark - these tracks has something concentrated, vivid qualities. this album sits just at the edge of the dance floor, but also performs its exceptional strength on intense home listening. dusky synth and truncated surge of bass of >vida noir< constructing something dark, before closing this album with modulated afro-acoustic guitar and deep falsetto voice (by the producer himself) of >rondo<. this album offers up an engaging and comprehensive amalgamation from the inquisitive sound by the maestro

it is jam citys turn to deliver a batch of sweaty, streamlined dancefloor weapons on the 6th installment of the club constructions series. the minimalism and intensity of jersey club music remains a huge influence on the whole night slugs camp, and while jerseys impact can be felt across the cc series, jam city channels those devastating ghostly kick drums like none other. continuing on from where he left off with club favourites *the courts* the *how we relate to the body*, jam drops 5 lean and intense drum workouts build from scrap metal and primed for warehouse use. they move between thudding midrange persistence and just-sub-and-air minimalism, framed by jammed drum machine rhythms and splashes of re-sampled colour. jam decorates these sturdy and well-deployed undercarriages with silvery detail, percussion fragments, broken talkboxes, whispered vox and simple, beautiful chords.

our west coast brother from another mother marc barrite has been a vital part of the circus company troupe since the early days of the label, due in no small part to his combination of flamboyant style and hefty funk. for all the experimental qualities in marcs music as dave aju there is an equal amount of hip hop swagger and heartfelt soul, and when you filter those elements through a house music template you get close to a perfect definition of the tastes that drive our label.

now the italian duo find themselves in london, joining forces with touchin bass to weave together a damn fine four track ep which aims to mix a combination of styles from downtempo, dark, brooding beats to more compelling rhythms which have the capacity to make you dance... plasters sound is impressively textured with rich eclectic tones. it is simple but effective, showing different emotions, tempos and styles.
look no further... this ep will draw you in, chew you up and spit you out, but you will be all the better for it.

teamed up with running back for a vinyl release, bubbletease communications releases are defiantly infrequent, reflecting boss man maurice fultons desire to only release personal projects and those hes somehow had a hand in. given fultons track record, this approach guarantees a high quality threshold in truth, bubbletease releases are rarely less than excellent. this four-tracker from tokyo-based dj nori, co-produced by fulton, is predictably impressive.

r-zone is a new label launched by global darkness. who is involved isn t exactly a secret, those who feel so inclined can piece the information together quite easily. it is however irrelevant to the concept of r-zone, which would like to shift the focus away from namedropping and perception based on hype around individual artists and bring it back where it belongs, in the lap of the music.

someone sound the funk alarm … bumper, the netherlands-based duo of geoffrey t and mr pauli, live and breathe sizzling, floor-busting electro-funk with one ear cocked to the classic sound and the other raised towards some sci-fi future. “get into position” proclaims the goal here: get all those people on the dance floor, ready to move! jimmy edgar kicks things off with a deep techno remix full of swirling synths and an infectious bassline, then londons tad wily does a funky 4 on the floor remix. the flip features 3 original funk grooves of varying tempo. *get into position* stakes its claim on frenzied body motion. *s.o.s.* provides a deeper excursion into the boogie zone. *ten four* then pops along at an erotic city-esque pace. sweet!

on uncanny valley s catalogue number 18 we finally welcome back credit 00 who is a man in charge of a decent collection of those dusty machines we all love. after the ice cold the living room life ep from 2012, his brand new record ice cream is easy to fall in love with. packed with tunes to suit various moods in life, it will be a faithful companion in dark basements or lonesome hours. ice cream starts deliciously with its sleazy sample choice. with the distinctive drum work it builds up to a true chicago-inspired dance floor banger. round n round hits hard with a harsh kick and cowbell action before it shows off slightly melancholic lead synths and a subtle but effective bass line and puts the emphasis on the fact that things go round and round. life s a dizzy affair. east of nowhere with that bass line-sound is credit 00 to the core. and with spooky synths he puts you to an east of nowhere-place where you will lose yourself in manic trance-like dancing. the record ends with red wine , a slightly different electronic love song sung by credit 00. the cover artwork was created by alexander dorn.

cult melbourne band primitive calculators cut a single in 1979 before splitting in the true punk fashion. a posthumous eponymous live album was released in 1981 (also reissued this spring on desire) and that was it. those two tracks are as fresh now as they were more than 30 years ago: in a style not dissimilar to the screamers or cabaret voltaire (circa nag nag nag), primitive calculators used raw monophonic synth lines with scratchy guitars and screaming vocals but the songs were standing on their own (as the unplugged version of do that dance that appears on the primitive calculators and friends 1979-82 could testify. the original 7 inch is now incredibly rare and hard to find and this reissue is its exact replica. first pressing limited to 500 copies.

decoy07 takes a deeper turn with the third act ep. miss sunshine (kms, monocline, tictactoe) has been working flawlessly in the studio for the past six years and this ep is no exception. third act is a heavy workout of riding bells and an old-school synth line which grooves its way through percussion builds and changes. intimidate is deeper and darker with a chugging groove and twisting effects growing into a more graceful melody. ground loop captures miss sunshines more ambivalent mood with a haunting groove that is perfect for those basement techno moments. markus suckut (figure, sckt)supplies the remix with his interpretation of ground loop, taking it more minimal and stripped back but maintaining the groove in his own familiar style.

introducing the house of 12 vol.2, also including some new artists on this one. a1 is with martin bell, uk, the man behind all those videos on youtube about >how to make house music with soul<. a jazzy house raw tune, proper sound for a proper dancefloor. a2 is a mysterious band from croatia, rare people house brand, all stuffed with vintage gears as well, presenting a house/disco song with a fucking good syncopatic crescendo and some hypnotic vocal. b1 is an italian guy, jacy, and his talented attitude to resume a disappeared vibe from old italian house from the early 90s, mixed with a new touch, so its not revival, its a new life about that genre!! b2 is the worst of the band, as usual, deep88, here with a raw-all-played-track that hasnt seen any sequencer, just a multitrack tape overdubbing and mpc.

the exaltics debuts on abstract acid with a very special and personal lp titled >das heise experiment<, the project originates from the exaltics desire to take things a notch deeper, while pushing the acid a step into more menacing and quite devilish territory. for those that appreciate such dastardly dark styles, well, you will not be disappointed with this album. coarse acid coupled with sublime soundscapes and ubiquitously haunting melodies make for the perfect combination. limited edition vinyl pressing

after a bit of a hiatus, roots unit return with some deep house hybrids from their bulging vaults. learn to love is a melodic dub-house / techno infused big sound system warmer that comes from a studio session with former 2 lone swordsman keith tenniswood and will be familiar to those who tune into tim sweeneys beats in space show on the regular. morning sequence is a lovely early morning hypnotic slinky electronic house jam that gets under your skin and into your mind. this latter track is mutated into a heavy floor filler by mark e in full on peak time mode.

the last 12 inch in the invisible sunrise remix series and to say they have saved the best until last would be unfair on all the other amazing remixes but this really is a doozy. quiet village do what they do best - an exceedingly epic 13 minute tropical jungle chugger that transcends time and space to take you on a trip you are never going to forget. without a doubt one of the best things we have heard from qv in quite some time. on the flip the advisory circle provide what is perhaps the most beautiful remix - melodic, inventive and deeply lush. an anthemic come down for those moments when you need a big audio hug. simply gorgeous. lastly seahawks leave us with an unreleased mix of crystal beach which sounds like george benson tripping his nuts off on a beach in hawaii at 5am….languid jazz guitar, slo mo beats, the sound of the waves and some deep electronics ... what more could you want? seahawks at their finest and one more reason this is an essential purchase. swim on forever.

jose cabrera and fred p split the first installment of the perception series. the determinism ep sees jc and fp giving their slant on principles of quantum level events through sound. raw and driving, this ep is a more than an adequate dj tool, it is a formula for the transportation of the subconscious. determinism is a metaphysical philosophical position stating that for everything that happens there are conditions such that, given those conditions, nothing else could happen. “there are many determinisms, depending upon what pre-conditions are considered to be determinative of an event.” deterministic theories throughout the history of philosophy have sprung from diverse motives and considerations, some of which overlap. some forms of determinism can be tested empirically with ideas stemming from physics and the philosophy of physics. the opposite of determinism is some kind of indeterminism (otherwise called nondeterminism).
